Earn money from your web site, affiliate marketing and advertising |
| So you have a web
site and want to earn money from it? I'm not talking about running a shop
or auction site - this is a separate issue. By running adverts or having
affiliate links, you will not make a fortune, but it's surprising how much
you really can earn from your own web sites.
First of all, your site needs to be receiving at least a minimum of 200 - 250 unique visitors per day. That's not 'hits' or 'impressions' , but unique visitors which is a more accurate measure of visitor numbers. Google analytics or decent tracker programmes will give you this figure. How you actually reach that number is achieved by search engine optimisation and in general this means different pages of your web site need to be in the top 4 or 5 Google results for various search terms. Once your visitor numbers reach that level, you should find you are contacted by companies seeking to place advertisements on your site. Banner adverts. pay more than plain text adverts. You should open a Paypal account because that's the only way overseas advertisers can pay you if you do not have a credit card merchant account. |
| Google Adsense pays
you a variable amount for every visitor who click through one of the
advertisements.
But for making affiliate sales through smaller companies, it makes sense to use one of the large affiliate network companies. These companies give you all the affiliate links you require and even shop sites for a wide range of different companies covering all niches of the market. Signing up is usually free.
